barbarasan > Was I ever lucky to happen by this snowy egret. It wasn't particularly afraid of me, either. I went back 2 days later to try to get more photos, but it was migrating and had already left the lake.

barbarasan > Is it my imagination or does this turtle have a cleft palate?? Maybe it's a scar, but his upper jaw doesn't look right to me. This was taken at City Museum in St. Louis.

barbarasan > This eagle was perched high up on a tree branch overlooking the Mississippi River near Modoc, IL. He seems to have an overall contempt for photographers...
barbarasan > Carolina wren...my favorite backyard bird. I have a pair of them coming to my feeders.
barbarasan > Taken at Lone Elk Park in Valley View, MO outside of St. Louis. The animals here are very docile and don't seem the least bit bothered by humans or vehicles. It makes me sad to think that there was a time when these magestic creatures were slaughtered for their hides and left to rot on the praires and plains of the Old West.
