Much to my surprise I caught a glimpse of something different at the suet feeder in the backyard. This was on a fairly warm day in February. I got a few decent-enough shots and was able to identify it as a yellow-bellied sapsucker. It must of been passing through the neighborhood and decided to sample some of my homemade peanut butter suet. Or, word has gotten around the 'hood that it's pretty tasty and he flew in for a bite or two. At any rate, I was ecstatic. Here, he is giving a red-bellied woodpecker the evil eye.
